Acts 5:42 makes clear that the early believers saw value in both the large and the small gathering. “And every day, in the temple and from house to house, they kept right on teaching and preaching Jesus as the Christ.” We also encourage our people to participate in small group meetings. Relationships are built in the small groups. Discipleship happens naturally in the small groups. Many people can share freely in this setting.
Women’s ministry exists so that women, young and old, are encouraged and challenged in their journey with Christ. UR Women have an event every 6 weeks (September through May). These gatherings will often include elements of the following; places of safe conversation, group testimonies, doing an activity together, a time of prayer, worship, outreach and discussion. We have weekly Bible Study times to grow in our understanding of God and His Word. We also have retreats that are geared towards growth and fellowship. There are outreaches planned wherein we ask our women to invite friends and we intentionally and gently welcome them to visit our church.
Men are historically a bit hard to get involved in Spiritual activities. We think one of the reasons is that the church has been trying to make men less manly and make them conform to a spirituality that is more feminine. We recognize that mistake and want men to be men, or more specifically: Godly Men. So our Men’s ministry is designed for men. And it is designed to help men become the Men of God that He intended.
